While a summer season of big numbers is still running, Garda Trentino already works before the winter by adding to many other regular initiatives another huge sport event with table tennis top champions returning to Riva del Garda. At the Baltera Expo Fair 2017 Junior World Championships, scheduled from November 26th to December 3rd, will gather around 200 junior top players and over 400 registered persons overall, mostly from Asia, the Continent ruling the table tennis sport since many years.

This morning, on the occasion of the official inspection carried out by the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) and the Italian Federation (FITET), a press conference took place at the Garda Trentino spa headquarter to introduce the features of the event. Table Tennis already had a significant history on the Garda Lake Northern shores due to to many national events and, above all, a stunning edition of European Youth Championships in 2014.

This time youngsters will have a leading role again, with a clash between China and Japan that promises to be highly spectacular. The undisputed star of the event will be the defending champion Harimoto Tomokazu, the 14-year-old boy Japanese phenomenon (son of Chinese parents) who already reached the ITTF World senior ranking Top-20, poised to become the number one within a short time.

“The technical level of the event is extremely high: we will have the 20 best teams and 100 best junior players from 37 countries for both men and women – explained Mohamed Dawlatly and Mounir Bessah, the two ITTF Competition Managers attending the on-site visit in Riva – undoubtedly the attraction exerted by this outstanding talent is really strong. We expect a full coverage of the event, by TV and web streaming, to introduce the beautiful Garda Trentino to millions of Asian fans”.

FITET President Renato Di Napoli didn’t hide the satisfaction of the Italian table tennis for this upcoming event, “a show not to be missed by table tennis fans coming all over Italy and the rest of Europe. It is also an opportunity to strengthen the close cooperation between our federation and Garda Trentino, whose local Committee has already proved their skills and commitment”.

Through this event, the Garda Trentino empowers its sporting vocation beyond the outdoor disciplines. “Table tennis –President of Garda Trentino spa Marco Benedetti reminded – is a popular sport in Germany, our main touristic market, but is also a popular discipline that everyone have practiced somehow. Played at these levels, it will be a great show and a positive experience for us, like 2014 Europeans. This time, we will also have the opportunity to consistently promote our territory in Asia, which makes us super happy”.
